QUEEN 2019 – Gayle Dellinger | 2019 GRAND MARSHAL Bryan Del Bondio

2019 QUEEN

We welcome Gayle Dellinger, Queen Krewe of Cork 2019. A member since 2003 and the Royal Coordinator for 7 years, Gayle is now excited to be chosen as this year’s Queen.

When Gayle first started with the Krewe there were 50 members. Gayle brought King Patrick’s vision to expand the membership to reality. Patrick was inspired by a quote from Euripides (480-406 BC).  “Where there is no wine, there is no love.”  So over a bottle of wine one Sunday afternoon, he set a goal of 406 members. At that point we set up a website, online registration, and created Sparkling and Still memberships.

Gayle enlisted her daughter Lauren on this wine journey. Together they envisioned the “wine police” and established the slogan:  “To serve and to pour.”  Lauren designed the first wine police uniforms — a Custom T shirt that drew many requests for purchase however none were ever accepted.

On a trip to China Gayle and Lauren met with a manufacturer and discussed the idea of a custom designed wine glass.  This crazy connection was perfect for Gayle to communicate and approve designs at midnight in New Orleans which was noon in Shanghai. The Krewe continues this connection for beads and wine glasses.

Gayle undertook a major project to raise money for the New Orleans Firefighters and turned the Royal Coordinator duties over to Gillian. Gayle created and marketed “The New Orleans Firefighters Look Hot” calendar which raised over $500,000.

Gayle is a longtime supporter of the New Orleans Ballet Association and currently serves on the Board of the Japan Society of New Orleans. She is a member of the New Orleans Rotary Club and has participated in International Friendship Exchanges to Calgary and New Zealand.  She enjoys growing orchids, gardening, and flower arranging. She frequently entertains and tries out new recipes on the unsuspecting guests.  In addition to all her fun and creative activities,  Gayle has been a Financial Advisor for 36 years and  has been recognized by Forbes and Barron’s.

Gayle made many new friends through the Krewe of Cork and she looks forward to her Queen’s role and getting to know all the members. Nineteen is her lucky number and she will be the nineteenth queen in the year 2019.

In 1978 Bruce Markham hired Bryan Del Bondio, a recent UC Davis viticulture graduate as his General Manager. Bryan became president of the winery a decade later and held that position for 28 years. He continues to guide the winery in his role as Senior Advisor.

Bryan literally grew up in the wine business, learning from his father Al, who worked as winery cellar master at Inglenook for 45 years. Bryan’s mother Marie also spent 40 years at Inglenook. Winemaking is a Del Bondio family tradition. His family has practiced the art of winemaking for three generations, since his grandparents emigrated from Italy to the lush winemaking region of Napa over 100 years ago.

Bryan has dedicated his life to creating something special at Markham. Taking the lessons he learned from his father, Bryan has committed himself to maintaining continuity amongst key staff members and creating a family atmosphere at Markham. Together, Bryan and his dedicated coworkers are committed to keeping the history of the winery alive – creating high quality wines that are always stylistically unpretentious.
