History

The Krewe of Cork began in 2001 as part of The Bistro at the Maison de Ville's  "TGICD - Thank God it's Cork Day". TGICD is a monthly all inclusive dining menu that features the best of the Bistro and specially selected featured wines for only $30.00US.

Since the inception of monthly TGICD, it has proven to be a special gathering of friends, regulars, locals, and tourists. But it's the TGICD during Mardi Gras that holds a very special event and significance.

The First Krewe of Cork

In 2001, a couple of the "regulars" of Cork Day felt that the Mardi Gras Cork Day should be special. Hence, a royal court was named and the first celebration began and the "Krewe of Cork" was founded. Maitre d' Patrick Van Hoorebeek was crowned "King Cork the First".

The celebration began! Mary Reynolds was named our first Queen and this Cork Day reached new highs as a dining and social celebration! Everyone had the best of food and the real spirit of the Bistro at the Maison de Ville and it's regulars was captured through toasts, carnival revelry, and good fun.
